In the English rooms, the tiles are randomly selected from a starting set of 400 tiles:
| A = 32 | B = 8 | C = 14 | D = 16 | E = 48 |
| F = 4 | G = 12 | H = 10 | I = 32 | J = 2 |
| K = 4 | L = 22 | M = 10 | N = 26 | O = 24 |
| P = 12 | Q = 2 | R = 28 | S = 38 | T = 24 |
| U = 14 | V = 4 | W = 4 | X = 2 | Y = 6 |
| Z = 2 |
As tiles are used, they are not replaced, so once the two X's, for example, are played, there will be no more of them that appear on the rack in that game. If one player does not win by reaching the pre-set score, all the tiles will eventually be used up. If that happens, the player with the highest score will be the winner. If the game is a tie, there will be no winner, and no rating points will be awarded or lost.
